General Information:

The initial order for the Airbus A380 was placed in early year 2000. At the time, Emirates announced they had ordered 5 of the Super Jumbo aircraft. However, late 2001 the airline confirmed that they had firm orders for 15 of the Super Jumbo's. In 2003, a further 21 A380s were added to their list of expected aircraft. By 2007 Emirates had on order with Airbus 58 Airbus A380s.

Configured in 3 classes (First (F), Business (J) and Economy (Y)) the Emirates A380 captured the world by storm with it's superior Business and Economy Classes and a breath taking First Class Suite. With the added excitement of an on-board bar and two showers this was a massive draw card for all die-hard premium travelers across the globe. To date the Emirates A380 is considered to best in the world, with many awards under their belts to proving the fact.

The Emirates A380 fleet is broken into two 'variants' of the Airbus A380-861. That being the ULR and LR variants. The ULR (Ultra Long Range) variant has been equipped with a 'Crew Rest Area' located in the centre of the lower deck (Economy Class (Y)). Carrying EFC (Expert Flyer Code) 38L, the ULR versions have reduced Economy seating, lowering the total seating capacity to 399 Economy Class (Y) seats.

The first Emirates A380 entered service on the 1st of August 2008. A6-EDA operated it's inaugural flight as EK / UAE 3801 to New York's JFK International Airport (JFK / KJFK) from Dubai (DXB / OMDB). Currently the Emirates A380 is deployed to the following destinations (from DXB): New York (JFK), London (LHR), Sydney (SYD), Auckland (AKL), Bangkok (BKK), Hong Kong (HKG), Toronto (YYZ), Paris (CDG), Seoul (ICN), Jeddah (JED), Beijing (PEK), Manchester (MAN), Munich (MUC), Shanghai (PVG), Kuala Lumpur (KUL), Rome (FCO) and Johannesburg (JNB).
